Course: STEAM learning is a mixture of Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics. Experts say that technological innovation accounted for almost half of the US economic growth over the past 50 years, and almost half of the 30 fastest growing occupations in the next decade will require at least some background in STEAM. This program will teach students technical skills, independence, leadership, cooperation/teamwork, organization, time management, and creativity.
Curriculum will include:
Science:
Utilize the scientific method to generate and explore laboratory experiments
Extended grade level science content class concepts
Technology:
Utilize technology to expand access to information and enhance communication of findings
Engineering:
Collaboratively invent, construct, and refine solutions to various real-world problems
Art:
Develop creative solutions to proposed problems and use various media and modes of communication throughout this year
Math:
Functional math will be used regularly to help students understand the mathematical applications found in daily life.
Writing:
Writing will be graded on content and process regularly
Reading:
There will be weekly graded and ungraded reading assignments
Research will require higher level comprehension skills
Grading:
Students grades are based on summative and formative assessments.
Summative assessments= 40%
Supplies needed for class:
-mobile technology is highly encouraged but not required
-Earbuds
-USB drive (at least 1 GB)
-Grid lined wirebound composition book
-3 prong folder
-pencil bag with (color pencils, markers, pencil, handheld sharpener, and eraser)
Revise/Retake Assignments:
-Work turned in within 3 days of absence will be accepted.
- All work will be placed on the Classroom Google page and can be completed at home if absent
Classroom Google:
-Students will have access to Classroom Google by using their school email address. All videos for instruction, worksheets, projects, etc, will be placed on the website. Students can work collaboratively and independently with this website. All assignments will be turned in through Classroom Google along with their projects.

Remind is a phone message service to remind students/parents of important events, activities, and classwork. Please refer to the printed instructions for your child’s class,to set up remind from home.
